The National Art Museum of China is holding a brand new exhibition dedicated to respected artist and drama performer, Lan Tianye. As well as stage photos and memorabilia commemorating his career, many of his paintings are also on show.

Lan Tianye passed the entrance examination to the former Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1944. He became a drama performer accidentally and made his name in the history of China's drama and TV scenes afterwards.

The ongoing exhibition focuses on his ink paintings in traditional Chinese style, as Lan Tianye's main hobby for decades was painting.

He was tutored by the great masters Li Kuchan and Xu Linlu in the 1960's, and inherited their philosophy in painting of hard work and innovation.
