"My Kingdom", the latest work from songwriter-turned-director, Gao Xiaosong, recently had its premiere press conference in Hong Kong.

The movie has attracted attention from thousands of fans thanks primarily to the charm of the two leading actors, Han Geng and Brunei actor Wu Chun. It's also Han Geng's debut performance on the big screen.

The two actors have more things in common than good looks and screaming teenage fans, as both of them got their career started in the pop music scene. Han Geng has a successful solo career after leaving South Korean group "Super Junior", while Wu Chun is a former member of Taiwan boyband "Fahrenheit."

Han Geng said, "In the beginning, we would only see each other when we were shooting a scene. Even when we saw each other, we only said hi and that's all. But, after we got to know each other better, we realized that we're so much alike. We have similar interests and personalities. We get along great."

"My Kingdom" is set in 19th Century China. Wu and Han play two young men who are performers with a Chinese Opera company. But they have a hidden agenda. They are actually seeking to avenge the death of their families.

Han said that he feels very fortunate to be able to work with veteran directors such as Gao Xiaosong and action director, Sammo Hung, on his first film. However, years of dance training did not prepare him for the intense martial arts scenes.

Han Geng said, "Dancing and martial arts are completely different, especially working with Sammo Hung. He emphasizes on the emotion of the movement, that you strike with your feelings. Each punch has its own feelings or its own language. I learned a lot by working with him."

In the premiere conference, the two actors also paid tribute to the female lead, Barbie Hsu, who recently got married and announced she would be taking a break from acting to concentrate on having kids.

"My Kingdom" opens in Hong Kong on Sept 22nd.
