The China Fashion Week continues to roll out catwalk shows of various fashion labels from around the country. One brand stands out for its subtle combination of the latest fashion trends and its use of Chinese traditional calligraphy.

Models sashay down the runway in their clean-cut suits, which are elaborately decorated with elements of Chinese characters and ink-wash paintings.

The San David fashion show seems to highlight an artistic deconstruction that strives to decode the relationship between the past and the future.

The choice of fabrics includes cotton, linen and silk. Asymmetrical cuts are employed to emphasise modernity, complemented by the mix and match of Harem pants.

Chen Wen, fashion designer, said, "I know the use of Chinese elements is a repeated topic. What we want is to break through the boundary of tradition, and to combine the Chinese elements with the modern day aesthetics as a coherent whole."

The 10-day fashion show kicked off on Oct 24th. Over the course of the event, more than 40 designers will stage their creations in 44 themed fashion shows.
