Double-O-Seven is licensed to thrill audiences once more. A news conference was held this week, introducing some of the cast and director Sam Mendes who helmed the new James Bond action-thriller "Skyfall." French actress Berenice Marlohe will be this year's Bond-girl alongside returning actor Daniel Craig who is credited with breathing new life into the franchise.

Daniel Craig returns as British secret agent James Bond in "Skyfall" the 23rd installment in one of the world's longest-running and most successful film franchises.

A news conference was held this week, introducing some of the cast and director
Sam Mendes who helmed the new James Bond action-thriller "Skyfall."

Mendes assured fans that Bond's latest adventure would adhere to the high octane formula that has made the films an enduring genre since Sean Connery first played the suave agent licensed to kill nearly 50 years ago in "Dr. No".

“Skyfall” director Sam Mendes said: "It's not the reason you do any movies, it’s certainly not the reason you do a Bond movie. I don't think in those terms of anything. For me, Bond is for the audience and only for the audience, like any good movie should be. The rest of it is what happens afterwards and that's not in my hands."

Spanish actor Javier Bardem will play the villain. He said Bond was also a regular fixture on the Spanish cinemas when he was growing up.

Javier Bardem said: "Some of the most beautiful memories I have with my family is when I went to the theatre to see all these movies. It was, I would say, one of the first experiences of really having this experience of being some amazing movies, amazing stories on screen."

In keeping with Bond's globe-trotting legacy, the film has been shot in London, Shanghai, Istanbul and Scotland. Craig’s first appearance as Bond was hailed as a refreshing change in direction towards a tougher, more serious 007, and reviews were overwhelmingly positive.
