Now, if you do some traveling in Russia's Far East and happen to pass by the village of Artyom in Maritime Province, there's one house that will undoubtedly catch your eye.

Valentina and Alexey Krivova have converted their house into a sculptural landmark using recycled materials. Built in the style of Antoni Gaudi with an outdoor bathroom called Big Ben, the house is attracting visitors from across the region.

The couple spent 16 years turning their humble home into what they call a neo-gothic masterpiece. They wanted to build something like the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris, but instead, they finally opted for a look inspired by the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi.

With no other income apart from a combined pension of 600 US dollars a month, the couple has rebuilt their home entirely from recycled materials - ceramic tiles and scrap metal rescued from local rubbish dumps.

There's also some concrete slabs and bricks taken from an abandoned coal mine.
