The new year season is the most lucrative holiday for the Chinese film industry. This year, besides big names like Zhang Yimou and Tsui Hark, there are many small and medium-budget films also entering the market to attract end-of-the-year crowds. Let's see some previews of what's in store.

More than 20 films will screen in December for this year's new year season. "The Flowers Of War" produced by Zhang Yimou and "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate" by Tsui Hark will take the leading role. Also, various kinds of films provide more choices for audiences.

Xu Jinglei, the famous Chinese actress and director, will screen her new production "Dear Enemy" to tap into the lucrative holiday market. The inspiration of "Dear Enemy" comes from her previous piece "Go Lala Go." The new film describes a workplace romance that takes place within the competitive setting of investment banks.

"White Vengeance", a historical film directed by Daniel Lee and starring Leon Lai, Feng Shaofeng, centers on the Feast at Hongmen Banquet, one of the important events in the Chu, Han Contention.

Meanwhile, fantasy comedy film "Magic to Win", hopes to attract younger audiences with leading roles played by Wu Chun, Yan Ni and Jacky Wu. A top South Korean special effects team provides the expertise for director Wilson Yip's latest project. Fans can look forward to the same level of expertise they enjoyed in Yip's previous production "A Chinese Ghost Story", his first cooperative effort with the South Korean specialists.

Since Feng Xiaogang, Jiangwen and Chen Kaige, the famous figures of Chinese film are absent from the new year season, the small and medium-budget films have a better that usual chance to shine.
