Christmas is only days away. And one US couple in the town of Greenwood, Indiana, has taken Christmas decorating to new heights, covering every room in their home with festive decorations. Meanwhile, Santa's office on the Arctic Circle is a hive of activity.

The home features 68 Christmas trees, all with a different theme, according to local television station The Indy Channel. The attraction has become so popular that up to 250 people stop by on the weekend.

Brandon Smith, homeowner, said, "You don't hear of a lot of people doing quite as extensive decorating and definitely not in the house or allowing the community to come in, so. And the looks on peoples' faces and the reactions is the best part."

December is the busiest month for Santa and his helpers at the Santa Claus village in Rovaniemi, Finland. But this year something is different. The white bearded symbol of Christmas fears economic turmoil and international difficulties will put a damper to the festive period for children around the world. He has received long wish lists, but also many letters from children concerned about the situation.

A Santa said, "It's been a very difficult year, a lot of people have suffered, financial crisis, nature catastrophes and other serious problems. Because of this I think it is especially important that children and people around the globe will have a very good Christmas."

Rovaniemi has many rivals to its claim to be the "real" home of Father Christmas, but the Santa Claus Village in Finland is a popular tourist destination, with more than half a million tourists visiting last year.

At the Lapland village they do everything in their power to ensure a happy holiday for the children.
