With Spring Festival coming soon, most families are already making their preparations for the nation's biggest holiday. But some migrant workers from rural areas are not able to make the trip back home.

So, to help these people feel more at home in the city, the Ministry of Culture has organized some activities especially for them.

The National Cultural Information Resources Sharing Project sponsored by China's Ministry of Culture is handing out specially prepared gifts to migrant workers from the countryside. This package includes some traditional Spring Festival couplets and a collection of DVD's. There's one on the customs for the Year of the Dragon, some films, and even a technology training series.

On Tuesday, more than 300 migrant workers received a package. During the activity, they presented gifts in return -- some original folk art performances.

Xing Changqing, staff of Security Company in Tianjin, said, "There are many places provided to us to learn more about our culture. Such places include the library, sports center, and many social clubs for things like calligraphy and photography. The platform for us is so big."

Luo Yunchuang, dept. director of Nat'l Cultural Info. Resources Sharing Project, said, "There are some cultural works specially produced for rural migrant workers. It is to help them more quickly become involved in city life and develop a better future."

Similar activities have been held or are being planned in Beijing, Shanghai and Fujian Province.

According to the Ministry of Culture, so far this year the National Cultural Information Resources Sharing Project has provided more than 2 million cultural resource DVDs and other holiday gifts.
