Play VideoThe forthcoming Golden Globes Awards is a big day for film aficionados, and this year's event seems to be particularly significant for the fans of Japanese rockstar and classical composer -- Yoshiki, as he will mix his background sounds to create the theme music for the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
Yoshiki may be a classically trained pianist, but is best known as the lead performer of X Japan, a heavy metal rock back created in the late 1980's. His long musical career not only includes 18 sold out concerts in Tokyo, but he wrote the theme song for the opening ceremony of Japan's World Expo in 2005.
Even though he has so many years of training behind him, Yoshiki says this is the first time he has ever used both rock and classical genres to create a theme song.
