The March Fair, the grandest festival of the ethnic Bai people, is in full swing in Southwest China's Yunnan Province. Every year between March 15th and the 20th of the lunar calendar, Bai people gather at the foot of Cangshang Mountain in Dali to celebrate the traditional event.

But for those who live far away from their hometown, like these Bai people living in Beijing, they also have their own way of celebrating.

Three-stringed instrument performances, traditional folk songs and dances transports homesick Bai people to their hometown villages in southwest China's Yunnan Province, even though they are now living in Beijing.

Since 1983, these Bai people in the capital have gathered together to celebrate their grandest festival.

With a history of more than 1,000 years, the Bai ethnic group's March Fair is renowned as a pageant for trading merchandise. Originally held for reciting the lections and offering a sacrifice to Guanyin, a female Bodhisattva, it has now become a thriving fair that tens of thousands people from different regions attend.

Not only can people trade goods with each other, the festival is also full of cultural activities including singing, dancing, horse racing, wrestling, and a flower show to name just a few.
