More than half of all Americans own a dog or a cat. And some can't help but to pamper their pups with the finest things-especially when it comes to food. One retailer is cashing in, with a unique concept- a bakery where the only food served goes to the dogs.

Dakota is not eating just some average dog treat. He's eating a gourmet snack--a cookie which costs more than 3 dollars a pop.

Paul Rashkind, Dakota's owner, said, "She loves this place more than anyone. She fights to come here."

This is "Woof Gang Bakery"-a gourmet dog treat store in Celebration, Florida. Every day, the workers serve up at least 15 freshly baked snacks. There’s peanut butter, pumpkin, even garlic flavored treats!

Luis Galan, Woof Gang Bakery manager, said, "Believe it or not, best seller would be right here. It's the cheese and liver star. Dogs absolutely love the cheese and liver stars. Don’t know what it is about them, they just go crazy over them."

Sure, there are other accessories for sale-fashion items, even cosmetics. But the stars are the treats, and for "Woof Gang Bakery"-business is booming. And they're not alone.

Every year, Americans spend some 20 billion dollars on pet food that's nearly as much as McDonald's sells every year-- worldwide. Dog owners wouldn't have it any other way.

Dog owner, said, "Whenever I go, anywhere, I spend the extra money to take him with me, and whether it be hotel rooms or plane rides or whatever, he's my companion."

Crissy Baligian, Vioet's owner, said, "She likes to come in, see different people, she's a people person or people dog."

With the American economy beginning to rebound, experts predict sales will only grow in 2012.
