When we talk about museums, we usually think about places housing cherished pieces of history or art. But there's one museum out of the ordinary which is keeping objects of lovelorn, or departed couples. The initiator thinks relationships are such a part of a person's life that it's worth it to have a museum to keep some trails of it.

It might be a bit sentimental, but the museum, located in the old residential area of Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, is where departed lovers can leave behind something to commemorate their ill-fated relationship. Every object is accompanied by some words explaining the background story about it.

The initiator is a pair of separated lovers who, were experiencing headaches about what to do with the gifts they had given to each other. They ended up setting up a museum to put them, and those of others.

The museum is not only a place for those who want to recall their own bittersweet memories, but is also a place for those who are in a sweet relationship.

In 2011, the Museum of Broken Relationships received an award for being the most innovative museum in Europe.
