The Chinese traditional holiday Dragon Boat Festival is just around the corner. People all over the country are preparing for the celebration in different ways. People across China are getting ready for the upcoming festivities. First stop, Qingdao.

Sweet dates, fresh reed leaves, a big bowl of glutinous rice, and a joyful mood for the coming festival. That’s all you need to make Zongzi, the typical gourmet Chinese dish enjoyed during Dragon Boat Festival.

Qingdao resident Li Ruiqing said, "Making one’s own food for the festival brings a lot of fun and happiness. It tastes better."

And of course, you can’t miss the dragon boat racing.

The Dragon Boat Festival has a history of over two thousand years, when the patriotic poet Qu Yuan drowned in the river. Each year dragon boats are raced in his honor. This year, the festival falls on Saturday.
