In Beijing, the World Choral Summit is underway as the Young People’s Chorus of New York City share American choral music to an Asian audience.

At the opening ceremony, the group sang Stephen Foster’s Beautiful Dreamer, a classic American folk song. Founded in 1988, the group is comprised of three dozen teenagers between the ages of 14 and 19. Their participation in the summit is part of a China tour that has seen them perform twice in the southern city of Guangzhou.

For many of the members, the trip to China is their first out of the US. The chorus will put on a full show in Beijing Tuesday night.
