Guqin contest showcases China's traditional music

The 4th Guqin contest has just concluded in Zhejiang Province’s Hangzhou city. Held by China National Musical Instrument Association, it is the top Guqin competition in the country.

60 performers entered the final round to compete for the individual award. Their ranks were given based on scores from a professional jury. There was also a team award for Guqin featured performances. Guqin is a 7-stringed musical instrument, one of the oldest and most artistically recognized musical instrument in China. In 2003, it was listed as a ’World Intangible Cultural Heritage’ item.

An exhibition featuring the Guqin and renowned Guqin music was simultaneously held to showcase the glamour of the country’s traditional music.
