Who says learning can’t be fun? A campus drama fair recently held in Beijing showed just this. The initiative encourages art education in elementary and middle schools. It aims to mix education and enjoyment, getting young children and teenagers acting, to better understand the world.

These youngsters are around 7 years old, but they are playing roles from ancient tales of the past. The play is adapted from their textbook. The campus drama fair draws together some thirty plays staged by elementary or middle school students. Educators say enrolling students into acting can help develop their self-expression both through words and body language.

It also enables them to learn about history and society from an early age. Well-known director Feng Xiaogang participated in the activities, promoting acting as an essential part of art education.
