We all know the path Little Red Riding Hood heads down on her way to grandma’s, but now the play is taking a new turn.

Anhui Peking Opera Company is staging the classic fairy tale with a twist, mixing in elements from China’s traditional opera. The innovative children’s play is starring in the currently running Children’s Theatre Festival in Beijing. Our little heroine faces new challenges from the big bad wolf.

And east meets west in this tale that blends artistic differences to draw in young hearts. Running to the end of August, the second festival will stage nearly 30 shows mainly in Beijing. Some selected dramas will also tour around the country and abroad. Artists from around the world are also converging on the Chinese capital to share the joy with young viewers.
