Bring Peking Opera to US & Canada

Many westerners may have a passing familiarity with China’s Peking Opera, but few really understand it. A group of established artists are now set to tour the US and Canada on a mission to change that.

Song Guanlin, President of China National Peking Opera Company, says the artists will give lectures on the origins, history and achievements of the Peking Opera.... Of course there will be performances as well.

The artists will make stops in San Francisco, New York, Toronto and Vancouver on their way. Launched in 2007, the trip is part of a cultural exchange program co-organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs of the State Council and the China National Peking Opera Company. The tour lasts from August 17th to 26th.
