The 19th International Book Fair has opened in the capital. More than 2,000 publishing companies from around the world are making this the biggest yet. It’s not only a festival for book lovers, but also provides chances for cooperation and business. And, more importantly, it’s a great way to understand each other’s culture.

It’s great platform for introducing excellent books from around the world to China and leading Chinese books to the world.

The exhibition area covers 53,600 square meters. Bigger and better this year is the General Publishing Zone. And the fair continues to run zones for Children’s Books, Cartoons & Animation, Periodicals, Publishing on Demand, the Rights Center and the Library Acquisition, and Digital Publishing.

Liu Bogen, Book Fair Organizer said, "Various exhibitors are taking part in this year’s event. Besides the publishing houses, we also have purchasing companies, technology providers and others. They’ve brought many products."

There are exhibitors from 75 countries and regions. Nineteen countries have set up national pavilions. For some of them, it’s their first time at the fair.

Turkish Exhibitor said, " We’ve brought Chinese versions of several Turkish best-sellers. They are all here especially for the book fair. We hope the Chinese readers will get to know more about Turkish literature."

The Beijing event is one of the four big international book fairs, which also include Frankfurt, London and the Book Expo America. The book fair is also a major international publishing event incorporating copyright trade, book trade, cultural events, displays, consultation services and professional networking. Various activities will be held on the sidelines.
