Today marks the spookiest day of the year: Halloween! Hope you’ve all come up with some cool costumes this year and perhaps are up for some trick-or-treating. Well, over in London, a fright-fest of Halloween treats is being offered by a hospital, but they aren’t just any treats. The exhibition of gory cakes includes skull and intestine cupcakes, blood and vein marmalade, and other eye-popping displays to die for.

Eat Your Heart Out 2012 is not for those who faint at the sight of blood, or flesh for that matter. Some of the cakes are so anatomically correct they could be fresh from the hospital slab. The cakes are being exhibited in the Pathology Museum at St. Bartholomew’s, which is among the oldest in London.

An ulcerated leg is one of the more obviously gruesome exhibits. Others include infected eyeballs, red blood cells, a severed hand and diseased lungs. And what about a halloween cocktail to wash down all the cake? How does a burnt-remains cocktail sound made of tomato juice, spices, and grilled bacon! It’s not just adults who are enjoying the exhibition. The cakes are being used educationally in schools to show children what diseases look like. A breast cancer charity is another customer, using the cakes to help raise cash for their cause. The three-day exhibition ends on Sunday.
