Sticking with the dance theme, CCTV’s 2012 Chinese folk song and dance gala is under production. More than 1000 folk artists from all over China will show their talent on the stage.

CCTV’s 2012 Chinese folk song and dance gala will be split into five sessions, and broadcast from November 4th to 8th. It’s a perfect showcase for the China’s best authentic folk dancers.

Vibrant rhythms, movements and superb skills will give audiences a real sense of the depth of China’s culture and customs.

This group of dancers are from Yushu, northwest China’s Qinghai Province.

It took them two days to get to Beijing.

But all of them cherish the opportunity to perform in the capital.

Tibetan artist, Yushu Folk Song & Dance Troupe, said,"All the performers are from ordinary Yushu herding families. Yushu people like singing and dancing, so Yushu is called home town of music. It’s said that Yushu people can sing when they’re born, and dance when they walk."

The gala will feature songs and dances from many ethnic minorities, including Tibetan, Uygur, Tu, Qiang and Yi.

In today’s modern China, much of the folk art on show is in danger of being forgotten so the broadcasts aim to raise their profile, and awareness of China’s rich cultural diversity.
