Fashion Rio's 22nd edition has wrapped up in the Brazilian city of Rio De Janeiro. Brazilian designers showcased their new collections for next year’s fall and winter season in step with the city’s perennially balmy tropical climate.

Rio’s fashion community converged on the city’s port district to see and be seen and that they did.

Men’s label R. Groove presented a bold catalogue that really turned heads. Its straight cuts and geometric shapes were certainly something new for Brazil.

Fashion student of Tamiris said, "I think it’s cool to try to do something different. I think the fashion in Rio needs a bit of a shake up. Even though we already have our own identity, it’s always good to have a bit of a change."

Another hit came from women’s label Nica Kessler. Since Rio winters are far from frigid, Kessler used very fluid and light fabrics for her 2013 winter collection.

Her long jumpsuits and trousers featured bold colours and to contrast with the sleek clothes the models sported elaborate hair dos.

Kessler said, "We’ve had the beauty of the models I always want to do that models are very beautiful with huge hair very wavy and dark lipstick."

Fashion Rio was pushed up by about two months this year. The move was part of a bid to bring Brazil more into line with the international fashion calendar.

The 3 day event hosted 19 fashion shows and 145 brands.
