Performers from more than 20 states across Nigeria took part in the opening day. There are over 350 ethnic groups in Nigeria. The show is also an opportunity to showcase a rich mix of different backgrounds in Africa’s most populous nation.

Performers from Egypt, India, Cameroon, Trinidad and Tobago and China also participated as part of the carnival’s theme of cultural exchange. A group of performers from North China’s Tianjin municipality showcased acrobatics, martial arts, and Chinese folk music.
