Taking it to the streets: CCTV dance contest begins

A dance storm is about to hit China, as the CCTV National Street Dance Competition begins. British dancing duo Twist & Pulse and Chinese pop star Will Pan are the guest judges for this year’s event. At the opening ceremony, they show off some of their signature moves.

Turn the beat around,the national street dance competition is officially on!

Good news and bad news for this year’s contestants: they’ll be closely watched by some of the world’s best performers. Runners up at 2010’s Britain’s Got Talent, Twist & Pulse, will be guest judges for the competition. Though still coping with jet leg, the dancing duo replicate their creative and hilarious routines at the opening ceremony.

Fellow dancers, listen up,here’s a piece of advice from your judges.

Twist & Pulse, British dancers, said, " Practise makes perfect. The more practise you do, the more you’ll enjoy it. And that is the main thing: have fun, cause if you’re not enjoying it then there’s no point performing.Work hard and believe in it and you’ll do it! "

Chinese pop star Will Pan is the image ambassador of the competition. He lights up the packed house with an upbeat number!

Pan is also a guest judge this year. He says he’s looking forward to it.

Will Pan, Chinese pop star, said " You gotta keep yourself motivated and try to compete not only with other people but compete with yourself as well. I think it’s gonna be a great show and a process for all the people who like to get their moves on, get their jiggies on."

Initiated in 2003, the CCTV National Street Dance Competition has become a major stage for Chinese dancers to showcase their talent. In the coming months, aspiring dancers from all over the country will have their eyes on the prize as they get their grooves on!
