The year of the horse is just around the corner and anticipation is mounting for the annual CCTV Spring Festival Gala. And here’s one more reason to get excited: Superstar Jackie Chan has arrived for his first rehearsal.

International superstar Jackie Chan will give a Kungfu themed performance at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Chan was born in 1954, also the year of the horse. And he says he’s particularly excited to join this year’s celebration.

"I am very happy indeed to join the show and bring happiness to the audience around the country. Plus this year’s director Feng Xiaogang is a good friend of mine, so I have to be here since he asked," Chan said.

The performance has been kept secret, so we are not allowed to film inside the studio. But this is Jackie Chan’s fourth time to perform on the gala stage. No wonder the veteran performer’s rehearsal has gone so well.

"The rehearsal went very smoothly. Jackie is such a professional. We talked about the performance a bit, then he went on stage and finished the process. We are surprised how he got into the zone so quickly," said Hu Xin, stage supervisor.

Jackie Chan has performed on the gala stage in 1993, 2005 and 2009 as a singer and dancer. For this year’s event, Chan promises to bring a brand new type of performance.
