Dialogue 10/05/07 Hung Parliament in the UK

The UK is facing a hung parliament, with the Conservative Party expected to secure the largest majority as the final votes in the 2010 general election are counted. A hung parliament is one in which no party has an overall majority, which means no party has more than half of MPs in the House of Commons. It means that whichever party ends up in power will not be able to win votes to pass laws without the support of members of other parties. The UK's much-dreaded hung parliament would be business as usual on the Continent, where parties are used to forming coalition governments. Britain's unfair first-past-the-post system needs to finally be fixed. Today we are joined here live by Grayson Clarke, Independent Public Finance Consultant, UK.
