With the release of China's latest economic indicators, inflation has once again become the most challenging topic facing the country today. China needs to calm down the price rises both for political stability and the for the long-term transition from an economy focusing on investment and exports, to one that is generated by domestic consumption. However, it is becoming much more challenging today for China to tame the rising prices than it used to be with the latest downgrade of the U.S. debt rating as well as the European debt crisis. What are the tools China still has in hand to curb inflation? How vulnerable is the Chinese economy among all the unpredictability of the world economy?
