Until the disputes flared up last year in the South China Sea last year, China has been able to conduct a very successful diplomacy in Asia including central Asia. Today we shall discuss the importance and success of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, original security block that was founded ten years ago to crack down upon three evil forces, terrorism, separatism and extremism which have brought instability in and around China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This landmark project which was set up under the joint initiative of Russia and PRC is however described as a semi-NATO by the west.
