Dialogue 2012-02-27 Third anniversary of China's escort mission

Hello, I am Yang Rui and live from Beijing. An international seminar on the 3rd anniversary of China’s anti-piracy escort mission off the Gulf of Aden was concluded last Friday and was followed by the dispatch of yet an 11th fleet on the same mission near the Somalia Waters early Monday morning. Naval officers from 20 countries met in eastern China’s Nanjing, Jiangsu Province to discuss the overseas missions of Chinese blue-water navy. Meanwhile, world leaders have pledged in London to join hand in fighting piracy, terror and restoring political stability in Somalia, a failed state in Africa. Today in our Beijing studio we are joined by Mr. Zhou Bo, senior colonel of Foreign Affairs Office, Ministry of Defense of the PLA, Mr. James Rae, visiting professor and Fulbright scholar with the China Foreign Affairs University.  And in two telephone interviews, we shall be talking to Mr. Joseph Janning, director of studies, European Policy Center and Mr. Yoichi Shimatsu, former editor of Japan Times Weekly.
