China has promised to buy Euro bonds and to help ease the sovereign debt crisis in Southern Europe. Chinese government made such pledges during German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s current official visit to Beijing. The visit is the second of its kind in 2012 and the sixth time during Merkel’s tenure. At the same time Beijing calls for the settlement in the solar panel disputes through consultations instead of anti-dumping proceedings. Germany has been the power horse of Europe Zone but can it play a more active role in stabilizing the sometimes rocking tides between the US and China? Can Germany assume greater international responsibility in the multi-polar world as a leading stakeholder?
