Donglin College, built in the year 1111(the first year of Zhenghe Period of the Northern Song Dynasty), is one of the famous colleges in ancient China. It was once a place for lectures given by Chenghao, great thinker at that time, and Yang Shi, a professor, students of Cheng. Later, it was abandoned.

In 1640 (the 32nd year of Wangli Period of the Northern Song Dynasty), it was renovated by a group of people who wanted to carry forward the spirit of Yang Shi. They are Gu Xiancheng, Gu Yuncheng, Gao Panlong, An Xifan, Liu Yuanzheng, Ye Maocai, Shi Menglin, Xue Fujiao and Qian Yiben.

Buildings existing now are memorial archway with stone tablet in it, special front door, Lize Hall and Daonan Temple. There are famous couplets written by Gu Xiancheng to advocate people to read good books and pay attention to state affairs.
