Bamboo carving brings great wealth

In Huangshan city in Anhui province, a young man named Hong Jianhua makes a living by carving bamboo. A couple of years ago, he carved a brush barrel later sold for 96-thousand yuan. It is the most expensive product he has made since he began his business. However, the barrel could not have been successfully sold without the help of his friend's business plan.

Hong Jianhua's friend is named Hong Yutian. He has run an antique business in Huizhou district for years. On a spring day of 2002, he dropped in Hong Jianhua's home and was immediately attracted by a brush barrel on the table.

Selling the barrel

According to Hong Yutian, Li estimated the brush barrel was worth 70 to 80 thousand yuan. If sold, the two artists could divide the earnings 40-60 percent. Hong Jianhua would take 60 percent, while Hong Yutian kept the rest. Hearing that he could make a profit of nearly 50 thousand yuan, Hong Jianhua was tempted. The two left for Shanghai the following morning.
