[May 12th]: New life, new hope

Three years after the earthquake ripped through Wenchuan, the region and its people have risen from the rubble. In our final episode of Wenchuan 3 Years On series, CCTV reporter Han Bin checks in with a family he interviewed just after the quake and finds out how life moves on, with new confidence and hope.

Three years after the devastating Wenchuan earthquake,many people in the countryside are still struggling to find work. Although the government has helped 1.7 million quake-affected people get jobs, new pressure has emerged with the completion of reconstruction projects.

The Sichuan provincial government says more than 600 children were left orphaned by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. They might be considered the most vulnerable of all the survivors.

Three years have passed since the Wenchuan earthquake killed more than 70,000 people. Today, resettlement has been completed in most of the quake zone.

As part of our special series “Wenchuan 3 Years On”, CCTV reporter Han Bin returns to speak to a student and a schoolmaster he first met soon after the quake struck and gets their thoughts, three years after their lives were changed forever.

The May 12th earthquake in 2008 left infrastructure in the Sichuan quake zone in ruins. For the past three years, efforts have been made to restore conditions to full capacity.

[May 6th]: New Yingxiu rises from earthquake rubble

In the opening episode, CCTV reporter Han Bin goes back to Yingxiu, one of the worst-hit towns. As he finds out, reconstruction has almost completed, but the emotional recovery is perhaps the most difficult of all.
