Staying in Jiangxi Province, almost all roads have suffered damage. Local people are unable to communicate with the outside world.
Since Saturday, torrential rain has continued to lash Zixi county, Fuzhou city. It has caused damage to roads, leading to heavy traffic jams in many places. Attempts to repair the roads are only being hampered by the continuous downpours.
The water supply has been completely cut off in the county, because an electrical pump machine has broken down, and water pipes have been washed away. Local people are having to suffer the lack of water, despite the huge deluge from above. And sales of drinking water are sky-rocketing.
A resident of Zixi county, Fuzhou City, said, "Today, I bought some noodles because they are easy to cook. I have also bought seven barrels of water."
In the supermarkets, there are a large stockpiles of bottled water. The larger barrels of water have been sold out. Local people are having to save as much water as possible.
Supermarket manager of Zixi county, Fuzhou City, said, "There is a large demand for pure water, but the price is the same before. We estimate that all the water will be sold out in a few days."
Besides the decreasing supply of drinking water, vegetable prices are on the increase, because of the lack of deliveries into the county.
A vegetable seller of Zixi county, Fuzhou City, said, "Usually, fragrant garlic is about three yuan, but now, it is over five yuan. I grow the vegetables myself."
But the high selling price of her vegetables can't persuade her to stay on. She has to leave, because the rain is so heavy.
Experts say the current round of flooding is the worst since 1998.
