Heavy rain has pushed Xiangjiang river water levels above an alert mark at different cities in southern China.
37 flood control offices around Hunan Province have recorded the daily rainfall over 100 millimeters. In a Changsha County village, the daily rainfall there reached 247 millimeters. Along the Xiangjiang River, waters level in the Changsha area have reached 38.4 meters, which is 2.4 meters above the alert level.
Meanwhile in Xiangtan area, the water level is 1.5 meters higher than the alert level. Construction of a tunnel under the Xiangjiang River has been temporarily suspended.
