High temperatures to scorch N. China

China's National Meteorological Center has forecast temperatures near 40 degrees Celsius in northern China this weekend.

It's expected to get to 35 degrees in Hebei Province, northern areas of Henan Province and central Shaanxi Province. Northeast China's Jilin Province will sweat through a 38 degree maximum. In Manzhouli, an inland port city in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the forecast is also 38 degrees. That hot weather is expected to last all week.

The weather bureau has issued an orange alert for northeast China's Helongjing Province. While in Mohe, it hit a record high temperature on Thursday: 39.3 degrees Celsius.
