Thousands of people across China are suffering health problems due to the heat wave. Children are especially at risk during this hot weather because their immune systems are not as well developed as adults.
This is the Children Hospital in the southern Chinese city of Shaoguan, south China's Guangdong province.
Everyday during this heat wave the waiting room has been full of patients affected by the scorching hot weather.
Parents and their sick children waiting to see the hospital's busy doctors and nurses to get some medical attention.
The sudden spike in temperatures has triggered respiratory diseases and digestive disorders.
A parent said, "We've been waiting for more than an hour. "
A parent said, "My child had a temperature this morning."
Doctors say the most common symptoms in children is fever, diarrhea and dehydration. All heat-related illnesses caused by the hot weather.
The over-dependence on air-conditioners and cold drinks can trigger the illnesses, especially because children don't have a strong immune system like adults.
Pediatrician Dr. Xie Jinying said, "Children are the most vulnerable in dealing with the change of temperatures. The sharp differences between indoor and outdoor temperatures increase the likelihood of catching a cold."
Doctors say parents should try and limit the amount of time children spend outside, make sure they drink lots of water and have mild food and drinks.
