Pengshui County in Chongqing has been among the hardest hit by this round of rainstorms. Many residents have been trapped by the floods.

Under this rushing current is the only road leading to Shang'an Township in Pengshui.

Over 3,000 residents have been cut off.

Resident of Shang'an, Pengshui, said, "The whole town was flooded, the water is one and a half meters high."

The flood water poured in early Friday morning. The villagers escaped in a hurry, leaving everything behind.

"The flood was so powerful. We had to run, but could bring anything with us. Grain, furniture, even the pig pen was washed away." Resident of Shang'an, Pengshui said,

"I'm over forty now, and I have never seen such a big flood. "

The water supply system was damaged by the floods, which has forced residents to collect rain water to get by. Luckily, no one was hurt during the flood.

In Xintian Township, over 20 homes were surrounded by flood water that was over 2 meters deep.

A villager was trapped on the second flood of his house that had already partly collapsed.

Flood water was moving too fast for the rescuers to get close to the villager.

They built a bridge made of rope between the closest roof to the villager's house.

After a half-hour struggle, the man was moved to safety.
