Typhoon Conson has sliced through the Philippines' main island of Luzon, killing 22 people. Twelve people are injured and 57 are reported missing.

Conson cut power lines leaving millions without electricity for more than two days. It's expected that repairs to at least five of the main transmission cables will take two or three days, after they were hit by falling trees and strong winds.

Many provinces neighboring the capital suffered the worst damage. Conson was officially downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it reached the island. But it still produced gusts of up to 120 kilometers per hour, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
