Fire aftermath: Cleanup efforts underway in Dalian

Workers in the port city of Dalian in northeast China's Liaoning Province, are cleaning up a pollution belt at sea, after a fire was extinguished in an oil pipeline explosion.

A dark brown belt of crude oil, can be seen stretching at least 50 square kilometers in waters off Xingang Harbor. About 20 vessels are involved in clean up work, with large quantities of oil spill dispersants having been shipped from nearby provinces.

The city was overshadowed by thick smog as blazes ravaged on Saturday. Authorities also ordered a halt to fishing to due possible contamination. A panel has been formed to investigate the cause of the incident.
