The Yangtze River's flood peak has passed Dongting Lake in central China's Hunan Province.
It passed the point as expected at around 8 a.m. local time on Friday. The water level has been driven up to nearly 33 meters, 0.4 meters above the warning line.
The flood peak is going to slow the lake's flow, blocking water that is converging into China's longest waterway. Dongting Lake is the country's third largest lake, lying in the tributaries of Yangtze River.
