Increasing number studying abroad

Summer is the busiest time of the year for Chinese students to apply for overseas schools. According to overseas education consultants, more and more parents are preferring to send their children to study abroad.

Overseas education consulting companies are always flat out busy during the summer. That's because many students are not interested in the majors they chose in their college entrance exams. They want to experience studying and living abroad.

Chinese Student, said, "I'm entering my second year in high school. I would only be able to get into an ordinary college based on my current scores. In order to enter a better university and need better development, so I have chosen to go abroad."

Zhu Yanmin, President of Jinjilie Overseas Education Consultants, said, "There's a huge increase in the number of students who want to study abroad. According to our company's data, the increase is 40%. It's estimated that the proportion could be 30% nationwide."

Among the students looking overseas, high school graduates make up the biggest portion.

More and more parents now recognize the advantages of sending their children to study abroad. It's becoming a popular choice for many well-off families.

Many applicants apply to attend world-famous universities.

Yang Ling, Director of Chivast Education Int'l, said, "Our data shows that 40% applied for the top 50 universities in the US, 70% applied for the top 30 in Britain, and 50% applied for the top 8 in Australia."

Countries like Britain, Australia, Japan, Russia, Germany and France are still the favorite destinations for students.

Schools and colleges in nearby Malaysia and Singapore are also gaining popularity.
