Violence has broken out in the Bolivian city of Potosi between protesters blocking a road and truck drivers who have been stranded for weeks.
Angry over what they see as a lack of spending on infrastructure, area residents, mostly miners and peasants, began their blockade nearly three weeks ago. Clashes broke out on Sunday when truckers pressured the protesters to end it.
Several people were injured. The government and protest leaders say they are close to a deal to resolve the standoff. Both sides have made concessions, but leaders are still refusing to lift the blockade until the agreements are presented to the protesters.
