Thailand's Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has cancelled the emergency decree in three more provinces on Monday. Now, only 7 provinces are still under emergency rule.
Daily life in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Ubon Rat-cha-thani have returned to normal. However, the capital, Bangkok, remains under a state of emergency first imposed in April to control mass anti-government protests.
The decree was eventually expanded to cover nearly a third of Thailand's provinces. The government has been gradually lifting the emergency rule based on the situation in each province.
