Around 14 million voters in Australia, are casting their votes to elect the country's 43rd parliament.
More than a thousand candidates are vying for all the 150 seats in the House of Representatives and for 40 in the 76- member Senate.
Polling stations have been set up at 7,700 locations to be supervised by some 70,000 temporary electoral staff.
This year's election is the tightest one in decades, with results expected to be release later on Saturday.
