DPRK's Sinuju city hit by floods

Right across the border from Dandong, south of the Yalu River, the DPRK's Sinuiju city has also been hit with severe flooding.

The country's official news agency KCNA, says the floods have submerged much of the city and caused huge property losses. So far, no casualties have been reported. The Yalu River overflowed after more than 300 millimeters of overnight rain, fell in areas around lake Suphung.

The report says all homes, public buildings and arable land in most of the rural communities around the city, have been submerged. Troops and local citizens in North Pyongan Province have begun rescue work.
