In Brazil, hostages held at a luxury hotel by gunmen, have been freed, after a fire-fight with police in Rio de Janeiro.
The crisis began after gunmen took 30 people hostage at a luxury hotel on Saturday. After being surrounded and pinned down by police, the gunmen freed their captives within hours, and surrendered to police. One person was killed in the cross fire between police and gunmen.
Witnesses said the up-market, beachside neighborhood around the International Hotel had been transformed into a virtual war zone as the suspects exchanged fire with police. Police say 10 suspects are in custody.
