Inaugural 2010 Beijing SportAccord Combat Games kick off

An international lineup of top athletes are fighting their way through a major sports event in Beijing. The Inaugural Sport Accord Combat Games are underway. The games kicked off with an opening ceremony on Saturday.

The glamourous evening show featured performances by some famous international singers and dancing groups.

The show was divided into six chapters and full of Chinese Wushu characteristics. The event will see more than 1,000 competitors from 66 countries and regions vying for glory in 13 sports including wushu, boxing, judo, taekwondo and sumo.

The International Federations have sent their best athletes, both male and female, to fight for the 136 gold medals up for grabs. China's delegation boasts 64 athletes including Olympic boxing champion Zou Shiming and Olympic Taekwondo champion Wu Jingyu.
