The Ministry of Commerce predicts China's foreign direct investment will reach a record high of 100 billion US dollars this year. The ministry made the announcement during a press conference at the World Investment Forum.
Responding to recent complaints by foreign businesses on the "worsening" investment environment, the Ministry says the increase highlights that foreign businesses are attaching more importance to the Chinese market.
Global FDI slumped by almost 40 percent last year, but China's FDI was down by a mere 2.6 percent. The ministry attributes it to a gradual increase in China's consumption capacity, and the nation's efforts to create an open and transparent investment environment.
