Mexican authorities say gunmen have kidnapped 20 men who were travelling together in Mexico's Pacific coast resort city of Acapulco.

The group was visiting from the western city of Morelia, in Michoacan state. The men were looking for a place to stay when they were abducted on Thursday.

The kidnapping was reported by a man who had been with the group. The man left the others to go to a store and his companions were gone when he returned.

Witnesses say his companions, who ranged in age from 17 to 47, were kidnapped by an armed gang who drove them away in three cars. Police are now searching the resort city and the highways leading out of it for the missing men.
